EaseMyTrip is not just a travel agent; it is an Online Travel Agent with its own flight, hotel and bus booking inventory system. Can you share your views on changing trends in travel market of India?

Indian travel market is witnessing a revolution due to the increasing numbers of business and leisure travelers. Along with metros, tier 2 and tier 3 cities of India confront a huge number of travelers at present. This is happening because of the growing population of the middle class. Middle class in India has developed much in last two decades and travel has become an essential part of their life. If we talk of few years back, traveling by flights and staying in high-end luxury hotels was not everyone’s cup of tea. But things are different now. Number of travelers has increased in India and foreign tours have become a common thing. We are seeing a new India and coming across enthusiastic Indians, who love holidaying at exotic locations.

And this really helped us in the growth of our business. We not only increased our sales volumes and stronger purchasing power, but also made our presence in Pan India. Our franchise network pays a great percentage of our revenue.
Managing them is simple as franchisees themselves are responsible for running of their business units and maintaining manpower. I remember a time when our site has a technical problem and they were unable to book tickets. This put us all into a big problem but the issue was solved within 12 hours. After that, they haven’t faced any such problem. Touch wood. However, small challenges might used to come in their way but that couldn’t reach to us. So, challenges may be there but not too big to be scared of.

What is Your Future Plans for EaseMyTrip?

At present, EaseMyTrip has a network of 50,000 travel agents, 1200 franchise outlets, 1800 corporate, 140 distributors, and 640 White label solutions. Now we are planning to open franchises in tier-2 and tier-3 cities of India to expand our business. Very soon EMT Holiday Hubs will be also established in all metro cities to increase revenues from Non-Air Products like hotels, bus reservation, tour packages, and car rentals. We already have overseas branches in Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai and sooner our branches will be there in London, Hong Kong, and United States.
